Software Engineer I

Overview

Software Engineer I role in MiQ's Engineering department, developing end-to-end software components and systems and contributing to highly available, high-performance products.

What you'll do

• Develop end-to-end software components and systems from the ground up and have ownership of them.
• Utilize a variety of latest web application frameworks and Big Data technologies.
• Work as part of agile teams that utilize CI and CD pipelines to speed up products' time to market.
• Identify and evangelize frameworks and methodologies for building highly available, high-performance systems.
• Ensure design and architecture documents incorporate these practices.
• Introduce new tools and methodologies when appropriate to simplify or increase development efficiency.
• Drive evaluation of new tools via POCs.
• Continuously evaluate how the team operates in different areas of software engineering.
• Initiate changes necessary to move the team a step higher in adopting best practices.
• Critique the software product design and architecture and contribute to its evolution from inception.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• 1+ Year development experience with an Object-Oriented Language (Java/Kotlin/C++).
• Experience working on the Linux environment.
• Good understanding of multi-tier web applications.
• Experience working on building REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience in developing applications using Java Enterprise platforms.
• Experience using UNIX / Linux.
• Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented concepts, algorithm & data structures.
• Strong coding skills.
• Good at writing SQL queries.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
