Gas Insulated Switchgear Commissioning Engineer

Overview

Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Commissioning Engineer responsible for safe, accurate commissioning of medium-voltage GIS and Ring Main Unit (RMU) systems for customer projects.

What you'll do

• Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems to ABB standards, customer specifications, and applicable IEEE/IEC/ANSI requirements.
• Create commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
• Support commissioning execution through energization and customer acceptance.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Integrated FAT (IFAT).
• Interface with customers, EPCs, utilities, and internal ABB teams.
• Identify commissioning risks and lead mitigation actions.
• Perform site visits and mentor junior engineers.

What you'll need

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of commissioning and field engineering experience.
• Strong experience with ABB GIS (ZX Portfolio) and RMU (SafeRing/SafePlus).
• Experience with ABB Protection & Control platforms (ZEE600, SSC600, PCM600).
• Knowledge of generator paralleling systems and critical power infrastructure.
• Proficient technical writing skills for commissioning documentation.
