Graphic Design Course Editor (Contract)

Overview

Contract remote role reviewing and editing existing college-level Visual Communications course structure and materials to meet current academic standards and industry requirements.

What you'll do

• Evaluate and adjust recommended updates to existing course structure.
• Review course learning outcomes and competencies for accuracy and alignment with current standards.
• Edit skill-oriented course sections and ensure proper organization of topics.
• Review and refine response assignment prompts and rubrics.
• Evaluate existing multiple choice questions for quality and accuracy.

What you'll need

• Master's degree or higher in graphic design, visual communication design, communication studies, rhetoric, media studies, or journalism; OR Bachelor's degree in one of these plus a master's in a closely related field; OR Bachelor's degree in design plus 3+ years of professional design practice.
• Master's degree or higher in Applied Philosophy/Ethics, with the ability to teach ethical reasoning at an introductory, non-technical college level.
• Hands-on fluency with generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot).
• Familiarity with the ethical issues and regulation surrounding generative AI.
• Experience teaching courses in a college or university setting.
• Experience creating, updating, or revising courses at the college or university level.

Nice to have

• Experience teaching a survey-style visual communication course that pairs design principles with visual analysis.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, color contrast, alt text) and copyright, fair use, and AI-generated imagery issues in visual media.
• Strong time management skills to meet due dates.
• Receptiveness to feedback and willingness to revise submitted work as needed.
• Ability to collaborate with curriculum designers to create high-quality course deliverables.
