Head of Engineering

Overview

Head of Engineering responsible for leading software design, modernization, engineering robustness, and timely delivery of scalable solutions aligned to business goals.

What you'll do

• Lead technology modernization and transformation of legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native architectures.
• Break down complex projects into manageable tasks while upholding software design standards for Java backends and API-driven services.
• Define project scopes and influence product/engineering direction around modern backend architecture and MACH principles.
• Optimize performance, code quality, and system uptime using key engineering metrics.
• Champion new Ways of Working (WoW) to improve agility, innovation, and delivery excellence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align execution with business priorities and resolve organizational challenges.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5+ years of people management experience in engineering leadership roles.
• Strong background in Java and API development.
• Experience with modern architecture practices, including MACH principles.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude or Kiro and AI-powered SDLC competency.
• Experience as a second-line manager leading Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
