Overview
Interaction and Motion designer role focused on defining how an operating system behaves moment-to-moment through interaction design and micro-animations.
What you'll do
- Translate “delight” into purposeful interaction behaviors across the OS.
- Own the OS interaction design and micro-animation layer, including transitions, feedback, gestures, and states.
- Collaborate with product design, product management, engineering, and stakeholders on interaction concepts.
- Define and maintain a consistent interaction language across different input modalities (touch, trackpad, keyboard, stylus).
- Build and evolve an interaction library with reusable patterns, timing, and transitions.
- Prototype interactions using tools such as Figma, Principle, ProtoPie, and After Effects.
- Partner with engineering to implement interactions with high design fidelity and review builds for inconsistencies.
What you'll need
- A portfolio demonstrating strong interaction design and motion/micro-animation craft.
- Ability to take ownership of interactions across an OS and drive them from concept through implementation with engineering.
- Strong prototyping skills, favoring working prototypes over static screens.
- Understanding of motion as a usability and feedback tool, not only decoration.
- Working knowledge of design systems and how interaction patterns can be made consistent and reusable.
- Comfort communicating design decisions and collaborating across product and engineering.
- Experience working with sound or other sensory feedback as part of interaction design.
