Job description

Overview

The AWS Integrations Developer will design and maintain cloud-based integrations using AWS services while supporting existing IBM DataPower and IBM App Connect Enterprise workloads during a transitional period. The role involves modernizing and migrating IBM integration solutions to AWS, supporting secure connectivity, and maintaining operational resilience across on-premises and cloud environments.

What you'll do

  • Develop cloud-native integrations using AWS API Gateway, Lambda (Python), EventBridge, Step Functions, and other serverless components.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable AWS integration patterns, including RESTful APIs, event-driven workflows, asynchronous messaging, and partner connectivity.
  • Use Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and other Infrastructure as Code tools to provision, version, and automate integration resources.
  • Refactor and modernize existing IBM DataPower and IBM App Connect Enterprise integrations for migration to AWS.
  • Support IBM DataPower and IBM App Connect Enterprise integration development during the transition period.
  • Build and manage connectivity with internal applications and third-party services using REST, SOAP, SFTP, MQ, and AWS-native security controls.
  • Implement mTLS, OAuth/JWT, rate limiting, schema validation, WAF rules, and AWS threat-protection features.
  • Maintain cloud and on-premises integration platforms through patching, upgrades, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Manage certificate lifecycles, including CSRs, imports, renewals, and automated deployment using AWS Certificate Manager where applicable.
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines for integration code, IaC templates, and IBM configuration bundles/BAR files.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues across AWS and IBM platforms using logs, traces, CloudWatch metrics, and application monitoring tools to meet SLAs and ensure high availability.
  • Document AWS API specifications, integration patterns, migration approaches, and operational runbooks.
  • Manage application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
  • Evaluate interfaces and interdependencies among core application systems.
  • Implement application enhancements in major business units.
  • Track data flow between applications and core applications in other business areas.
  • Plan enhancement, conversion, and retirement strategies for core applications.
  • Lead problem-resolution efforts and develop resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications.
  • Design complex application architectures meeting performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
  • Lead application design reviews and walkthroughs.
  • Prepare technical design documents and application blueprints.
  • Track application software quality and effectiveness problems.
  • Provide instant support for end users of application software.
  • Record requirements and deliverables, produce functional and information requirements models, and conduct requirements walkthroughs and quality reviews.
  • Design and develop application or technology interfaces and bridges.
  • Identify and quantify risks of proposed system or technology integration alternatives.
  • Advise others on integrating projects across multiple technologies.
  • Verify transaction flows across input, output, and storage channels or devices.
  • Evaluate interoperability of new systems with existing systems during beta testing.
  • Supervise testing of complex, multi-platform, and distributed applications.
  • Manage test-plan execution, including resources, strategies, schedules, processes, and tools.
  • Discover, analyze, and resolve hardware, software, and application problems.
  • Analyze code, logs, and current systems during advanced troubleshooting.
  • Record and report technical problems, resolution processes, and tools used.

What you'll need

  • 7+ years of experience in integration development, cloud engineering, or IT operations roles supporting mission-critical systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS serverless integration services, including API Gateway, Lambda (Python), EventBridge, Step Functions, and related AWS design patterns.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and/or AWS CDK.
  • Solid Python development skills for Lambda functions, automation tooling, and AWS integration logic.
  • Experience assessing, refactoring, and migrating on-premises IBM DataPower and IBM App Connect Enterprise workloads to cloud-native AWS architectures.
  • Working knowledge of IBM DataPower, including MPGW, XML Firewall, and API Gateway.
  • Working knowledge of IBM App Connect Enterprise message flows, ESQL, and JavaCompute.
  • Strong understanding of secure integration patterns, including mTLS, OAuth/JWT, rate limiting, schema validation, and threat-protection controls.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD automation using GitHub.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills, especially during time-sensitive or high-pressure situations.
  • Deep understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes following ITIL frameworks.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, including Major Incident Management processes and inbound/outbound integrations.
  • Knowledge of major production application systems used to deliver services to internal and external clients.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving approaches, tools, and techniques for organizational, operational, or process problems.
  • Knowledge of application design and architecture principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of implementing application software within an organization and helping end users perform specific tasks.
  • Knowledge of requirements analysis tools, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of systems integration and communication among applications, databases, and technology platforms.
