What you'll do
- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java applications.
- Design and implement services using Java, Spring, and microservices principles.
- Write clean, efficient, secure, and maintainable code.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues within agreed timelines.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and release activities.
- Collaborate with business, product, quality, architecture, and operations teams.
- Contribute to Agile planning, estimation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with relevant Java technologies and development practices.
- Consider performance, scalability, security, and responsible use of technology resources.
- Write, review, and maintain Java code.
- Develop APIs, services, and database integrations.
- Create and execute automated tests.
- Investigate defects, logs, performance issues, and production incidents.
- Participate in daily team meetings, planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and select solutions.
- Maintain build scripts, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and release materials.
- Make implementation decisions within established architecture, security, and delivery standards, escalating significant risks when needed.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
- Experience with Spring, Java frameworks, relational databases, CI/CD, and application support.
- Experience working in cross-functional or Agile teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Required Java 8+.
- Spring and Spring Boot.
- Microservices and REST APIs.
- Hibernate or comparable ORM technology.
- Gradle and Git.
- CI/CD pipelines.
- Basic Linux command-line skills.
- One or more of MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Experience with Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, NetBeans, or a comparable IDE.
- Unit and integration testing.
- Java and object-oriented programming.
- SQL, relational database concepts, transactions, indexing, and experience with MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Understanding of applications deployed in hosted or cloud environments.
- Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Gradle, Git, CI/CD, Linux basics, Agile delivery, automated testing, and code reviews.
- Secure coding, input validation, access control, data protection, and vulnerability awareness.
- Completion of required Synechron onboarding, security, compliance, and project training.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in Java and related technologies.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate risks early.
