Java Full Stack Engineer – Java EE, Spring, Hibernate & RESTful Web Services

Overview

Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based applications and systems, delivering clean, maintainable, scalable, reliable, and testable software solutions across backend and web application layers.

What you'll do

• Develop, enhance, test, and maintain Java applications, web components, database integrations, and RESTful web services.
• Apply strong programming practices to produce clean, maintainable, scalable, and testable code.
• Use Java and Java EE technologies to implement application functionality.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful web services.
• Work with Spring, Hibernate, JSF, or other approved Java web development frameworks as required by the assigned project.
• Design and implement database interactions using relational databases and SQL.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new features and improve existing functionality.
• Participate in requirements discussions, technical design activities, sprint planning, reviews, code reviews, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Ensure code adheres to applicable industry, security, testing, and quality standards.
• Debug and fix application, integration, database, and performance-related technical issues in a timely manner.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for application components, interfaces, configurations, and support procedures.
• Use Git or an equivalent version control system to manage source code and support collaborative development.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and usability.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in Java and related technologies.
• Support sustainable software practices by improving application efficiency, reusing maintainable components, and considering long-term supportability.
• Deliver software increments that meet agreed functional requirements, quality standards, security expectations, and timelines.
• Make implementation decisions within the agreed technical scope, manage assigned priorities, and escalate risks, dependencies, or design concerns when required.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
• 5–10 years of experience in Java software development or related application development roles.
• At least 3 years of experience in Java software development is required.
• Strong programming skills in Java, including object-oriented programming principles.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable, and testable code.
• Strong knowledge of the Java EE platform and its application in Java-based systems.
• Experience with one or more of Spring, Hibernate, or JSF.
• Understanding of Java web application development.
• Experience developing, consuming, or integrating RESTful web services.
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience designing and executing SQL queries.
• Understanding of tables, relationships, indexes, constraints, transactions, and data validation.
• Experience integrating Java applications with relational databases.
• Ability to investigate and resolve database-related application issues.
• Ability to understand application deployment, configuration, availability, scalability, and monitoring in distributed or cloud-enabled environments.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Experience using Git or an equivalent version control system.
• Experience with code reviews, debugging, defect resolution, testing, and software development lifecycle activities.
• Ability to follow coding standards, branching practices, release processes, and documentation requirements.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams during iterative software delivery.
• Understanding of secure application development practices for Java applications, web systems, databases, and RESTful services.
• Awareness of authentication, authorization, input validation, secure data handling, and protection of sensitive information.
• Ability to identify and address security-related defects in collaboration with relevant technical teams.

• Certification in Java, software development, Agile delivery, cloud technologies, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
• Relevant training in Java, Java EE, web development frameworks, RESTful services, databases, secure development, testing, or Agile methodologies is preferred.
