Java Microservices and Kafka Engineer - Assistant Vice President

Overview

Design, build, and deliver Java-based microservices and cloud-native application systems supporting critical business operations. The role focuses on scalable, secure, high-performance solutions across the software development lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Design and deliver Java-based microservices and application systems.
• Architect scalable solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and MongoDB.
• Integrate Kafka and MQ middleware for real-time data processing.
• Deploy containerised applications using Docker and OpenShift.
• Analyse complex application problems and recommend engineering solutions.
• Implement security controls and post-deployment safeguards.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and advise stakeholders.

What you'll need

• 7 to 12 years of experience in software development, systems analysis, and project delivery.
• Production experience with Java 8 or higher and Java microservices.
• Experience with Spring or Spring Boot.
• Expertise in MongoDB and NoSQL database design.
• Experience integrating Kafka or MQ messaging middleware.
• Knowledge of Docker, OpenShift, or equivalent containerisation platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling.
• Familiarity with Apache Flink or caching technologies.
• Exposure to UI technologies.
• Knowledge of consulting or project management methodologies.
