Java Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Develop and test a scalable, geo-distributed database solution using Java. Lead software engineers while working on replication, sharding, concurrency, and performance optimization.

What you'll do

• Ensure database scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Define, design, and ship features with cross-functional teams.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed environments.
• Profile, debug, and optimize performance using Java profiling tools.
• Develop data structures for data-intensive access.
• Implement disk storage, network transfer, failure handling, and recovery.
• Implement and integrate cluster high-availability algorithms.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of Java programming experience.
• Deep knowledge of Java concurrency and the Java Memory Model.
• Excellent Java SE knowledge, including I/O and JVM internals.
• Experience with SQL databases and troubleshooting Java applications or databases.
• Leadership, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Deep SQL knowledge and understanding of distributed systems concepts.
• Experience working effectively in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL or distributed databases.
• Experience building high-load distributed systems and algorithms.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or public cloud platforms.
• Open-source contributions, automation, or performance testing experience.
• Active use of AI.

• Remote or hybrid work in Bulgaria; remote options also listed for Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Armenia, and Cyprus.
• Salary: €74,200–€90,000 gross per year.
