L2/L3 Protocol Test Engineer

Overview

L2/L3 Protocol Test Engineer to develop, execute, and automate test plans for Layer 2/Layer 3 networking protocols and troubleshoot issues found during testing.

What you'll do

• Develop, execute, and automate comprehensive feature test plans for L2/L3 networking protocols.
• Design and improve test automation frameworks by building automation libraries and algorithms.
• Use analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and identify root causes.
• Implement test cases and create automated test scripts using Python PyTest and Robot Framework.
• Use networking test equipment (e.g., Spirent, Ixia) to generate traffic and validate performance, including automation.
• Report testing progress and outcomes via documentation and regular status updates.
• Handle critical customer queries and escalations, reproducing issues and helping resolve them.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 1-3 years of experience.
• In-depth knowledge of switches, routers, and IP networking fundamentals.
• Specialization in L2 and/or L3 networking areas listed in the requirements section (e.g., STP/RSTP/MSTP, VRRP, OSPF/ISIS/BGP, MPLS).
• Experience with networking test equipment (Spirent, Ixia) and the ability to automate testing with these tools.
