Lead AI Engineer

Overview

Lead the direction, design, development and implementation of new software applications and upgrades, and manage the technical staff on the project(s). This is an entry-level management role within NTT DATA's Software Applications Development team.

What you'll do

• Ensure software application development projects with clients are executed, keeping development costs and activities within budget.
• Perform proof of concept as and when required.
• Use business requirements to advise on the design, deployment and operation of infrastructures.
• Determine how technology can be applied to meet external client and business requirements by crafting high-level solutions and work breakdown.
• Work closely with external stakeholders to define project scope, including cost benefit analysis, risk management plan and feasibility study.
• Translate business and external client needs to various teams and assign development tasks.
• Take accountability for application development and take on more complicated programming activities.
• Assist the team and resolve technical issues during design, development and implementation.
• Ensure appropriate testing of applications for efficiency and resolve escalated design problems prior to deployment.
• Ensure the development phase is documented, including procedures for application use.
• Direct implementation by evaluating, testing and modifying the application until it meets business and client goals.
• Oversee and manage relevant documentation, training and support for relevant teams.
• Research and investigate emerging infrastructure and application technologies and associated best practices.
• Conduct detailed quality assurance and automated testing requirements, processes and guidelines.
• Lead and manage a team of Software Application Developers in achieving team and individual objectives.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with a strong background in all aspects of software application development.
• Demonstrated experience gained in a similar type of role.
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of software applications.
• Demonstrated experience with a wide variety of computer software, hardware, and peripherals, including Microsoft365.
• Relevant experience dealing with stakeholders, building strong relationships and negotiating with decision makers and influencers.
• Relevant experience delivering consultancy-type projects using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
• Relevant experience translating technical concepts into business terms.
• Ability to effectively interact with senior management and/or major customers, including negotiating matters of significance to the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within budget and stipulated timelines.
• Knowledge of multi-technology application and infrastructure design best practices.
• Holistic view of technology environments including hardware platforms, applications, databases, operating systems and storage.
• Entry-level ability to build a cohesive team and manage people effectively.
• Ability to set the short-term direction of the team.
• Good communication skills, including being influential and persuasive with stakeholders.
• High level of detail consciousness, closely monitoring work progress to produce required results.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant industry standards and best practices for software applications development.
• Relevant technical skills such as programming languages, programming applications and troubleshooting.
• Ability to resolve performance issues and deliver effective solutions to problems.

Nice to have

• Certification in programming languages such as Java, Perl, Python or C++.
• Scrum or project management certification.
