Job description

Overview

Lead end-to-end presales engineering activities for Fire Protection & Suppression opportunities across transportation, data center, commercial, industrial, fit-out and key account verticals. Handle techno-commercial project activities covering fire sprinkler, hydrant, water spray, foam and gas suppression systems, own technical considerations to win jobs, and participate in the HOTO process for D&E and OPS approval.

What you'll do

  • Review project inputs and project intake forms shared by the Front Desk or Sales.
  • Analyze requirements and initiate kick-off calls with the Front Desk after receiving the CoE SFDC Code and timeframe.
  • Prepare designs on given floor plans to arrive at the BOQ when a BOQ is unavailable.
  • Identify potential issues and risks, bring them to the customer's knowledge, and help mitigate them.
  • Initiate discussions with OEMs and subcontractors and obtain the right solution and proposal from OEMs.
  • Analyze OEM proposals and commercials and verify them using past data and benchmark costing in the SCM Database.
  • Prepare optimized techno-commercial costing sheets, proposals and compliance statements after cost comparison.
  • Perform self-QC and obtain second-level QC from the Delivery Manager before submitting deliverables to the Front Desk.
  • Perform second-level QC of deliverables completed by other Application Engineers.
  • Update SFDC regularly and complete timesheets and assigned training on time.
  • Negotiate and follow up with OEMs and Internal OPS/Post Sales teams to obtain appropriate project pricing.
  • Participate regularly in Daily Calls and Cadence Calls with the business team.
  • Derive strategies for increasing the win rate.
  • Align with organizational KPIs including Quality, Cycle Time, OTD, Win Rate and Productivity.

What you'll need

  • BE in Mechanical or Electrical.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Fire Protection & Suppression Systems domains.
  • Strong knowledge of Fire Protection & Suppression Systems, including Fire Sprinkler, Pre-action System, Water Spray, Standpipe & Hose System, Hydrant Network, Fire Water Storage, Stationary Pumps, Foam Suppression, Water Mist System, Kitchen Hood System and Gas Suppression including FM, Novec, Inergen and CO2.
  • Presales and estimation experience across Transportation, Commercial, Fit-outs, Industries and Data Centers.
  • Capability to perform hydraulic and flow calculations and product selections with deviation and compliance statements.
  • Ability to work on complex costing sheets covering Material, Engineering, Operations and Subcontractor costs.
  • Skill in articulating offered solutions in a structured way through high-standard technical proposal documents.
  • Ability to build a strong network with regionally specific third-party vendors.
  • Ability to learn quickly and use problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to be a good team player.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing Fire Protection & Suppression systems, including fire hydrant, sprinkler, HVWS, MVWS, Foam, Water Mist and Gas Suppression, per NFPA, BSEN, Vds, TAC and NBC norms.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic and flow calculations using SprinkCAD, Fire-CAD, ANSUL and HYGOOD.
  • Experience preparing BOQs and material track sheets according to approved or shop drawings and material technical data sheets.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants and clients for contractual clarifications and design approval.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Sprink CAD, Fire CAD, Navis and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems.
