Lead Application Engineer II - Presales Fire Alarm

Overview

Support pre-sales engineering for Fire Detection System global projects as per country-specific standards, including bill of material preparation and cost estimation to produce competitive bids.

What you'll do

• Support pre-sales engineering for Fire Detection System global projects as per country-specific standards.
• Review project inputs and specifications to capture scope and understand the complete requirements of the project.
• Review MEP drawings, specifications and SOPs and identify equipment related to Fire Detection System (Fire Alarm, VESDA, Linear Heat Detection, Fireman Intercom, Detection part of Gas Suppression System, Gas Detection, etc.).
• Prepare for and participate in project kick-off and review meetings, with technical queries, compliance/deviations log, risk logs and recorded minutes of meeting.
• Adhere to the standard estimation process and guidelines to select the proper combination of hardware, software, equipment, materials and services for an optimum budget.
• Create bill of material, select Fire Alarm Panels, Controllers and Field Devices, identify software, network connections, and calculate cable type and length for the Fire Detection System.
• Prepare costing sheets including preliminaries and other costs, cost comparison charts, checklists, technical write-ups, block diagrams and deviation charts.
• Ensure quality assurance, defect-free deliverables, on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
• Escalate issues in a timely manner so as not to affect the project delivery schedule; scope-creep escalations must be clearly backed up with evidence.
• Keep operational parameters at the desired level for all assigned projects.
• Ensure timesheet compliance with respect to entry and review for self and team.
• Prepare weekly/monthly customer reporting on project progress.
• Actively participate in organization employee engagement initiatives.

What you'll need

• BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Electronics & Communication.
• Strong knowledge of Fire Detection Systems (Fire Alarm, VESDA, Linear Heat Detection, Fireman Intercom, PWD Intercom, Detection part of Gas Suppression System, Gas Detection System, etc.).
• Knowledge of Simplex/Autocall and Zettler fire alarm products, along with Xtralis and Securiton products for Aspirating Smoke Detection systems.
• Knowledge of Lithium Ion Risk Prevention systems.
• Expertise in fire alarm codes and guidelines (NFPA-72, BS-5839, SS-645, SS-546, etc.).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
• Knowledge of network protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and others.
• Good experience in subcontractor/vendor engagement.
• Quick learner, team player, with a keen eye for problem solving.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Simplex and Zettler certifications.
• Certification in Lithium Ion Risk Prevention systems.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in Fire Detection System design and estimation.
