Lead Development Engineer

Overview

Leads, develops and tests embedded software applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design system solutions and optimize software performance for embedded systems. Expert in developing device drivers.

What you'll do

• Design, develop and test software applications to meet system requirements from concept through product release.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver optimized, high-performance embedded solutions.
• Be responsible for the design, development, testing and documentation of a system, subsystem or component as part of an overall architecture.
• Ensure engineering solutions are practical, efficient, and aligned with project goals and industry standards.
• Apply the latest technology and research findings into engineering design solutions and design rules.
• Work with an outside-in view to understand and fulfil customer and market requirements as well as competitive alternatives.
• Work closely with the global competence community and Research organization to stay updated with the latest insights in innovations and technical breakthroughs.
• Design, realize and test (sub-)systems or components based on design requirements and produce specs for the product and propositions.
• Drive IP creation and protection (patents, trade secrets, copyrights).
• Write, update and maintain development reports and project deliverables.
• Depending on grade, contribute to and drive technology road mapping.
• Depending on grade, provide coaching and mentoring within the team to support effective use of available knowledge and skills, both internally and externally.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a focus on embedded systems.
• Experience in embedded software development, including programming in C/C++.
• Experience working with real-time operating systems.
• Expertise in developing device drivers.

Nice to have

• Relevant certifications in embedded systems or software development (e.g., Embedded Systems Certification).
