Overview
Lead Engineer in the Engine Mounts team within Engineering Sciences at GE Aerospace Bengaluru, owning the structural integrity and airworthiness of engine attachment hardware across the commercial engine portfolio, including in-service, GE9X and RISE programme work.
What you'll do
- Own and meet on-time commitments across new product introduction, in-service sustaining, and advanced technology programmes, balancing competing priorities without compromising safety or quality.
- Execute design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, GE Aerospace design practices, and established business standards, combining classical hand calculations with finite element analysis.
- Define and control how the engine attaches to the aircraft, including mount system architecture, load paths and reactions, interface loads and geometry, stiffness and clearance budgets, and thermal growth and deflection management.
- Assess mount and interface hardware against flight, ground, manoeuvre, and limit and ultimate load conditions, including critical transient events such as fan blade-out and windmilling imbalance, and support the whole-engine and installed-system models that underpin them.
- Partner with manufacturing shops and suppliers to resolve non-conforming hardware and production issues, including Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions and Departure Records, driving improved producibility and on-time delivery.
- Apply technical judgement and data analysis to moderately complex engineering, manufacturing, and product issues, bringing fresh perspective to established solutions.
- Present findings, recommendations, and results in design reviews, technical reports, memos, and presentations, to peers, programme leaders, and external partners.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or a related engineering discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with relevant research or industry experience; equivalent qualifications and experience will be considered.
- Strong foundation in solid mechanics and mechanical design, with practical, hands-on experience in finite element analysis (FEA).
- A track record of delivering results across multiple concurrent projects, balancing timing and quality of outcomes.
- Ability to make priority trade-offs that optimise overall programme delivery rather than any single task.
- Clear written and spoken communication in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with aircraft engine mounts, aero-structures, or other highly loaded structural hardware.
- Exposure to engine-to-wing or propulsion system integration, including pylon and nacelle interfaces, installed engine loads, interface control documents, or engine build-up and quick engine change configurations.
- Experience with whole-engine or installed-system structural models, interface load extraction, or transient load events such as fan blade-out and windmilling.
- Direct working experience with aircraft manufacturers or structural suppliers on a shared interface.
- Material Review Board (MRB) certification in the structures domain, or experience supporting non-conformance dispositions.
- Familiarity with FAA Part 33 and/or Part 25 certification processes.
- Understanding of manufacturing and inspection processes, and of structural repair methods.
- Comfort with digital and analytics tools to enable data-driven engineering decisions, including automation of repetitive analysis work.
- A systems-thinking approach, connecting hardware decisions to programme cost, schedule, and certification outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an instinct for building networks across functions, sites, and supplier partners.
- A quick learner who prioritises strategically, challenges existing processes constructively, and follows through.
