Lead Engineer - Thermal Dynamics

Overview

Lead thermal design and analysis activities for turbomachinery hardware and architectures across the gas power product life cycle. Own work from concept through design review and final documentation with minimal oversight.

What you'll do

• Execute heat transfer, secondary flow, and thermal analysis for stationary and rotating turbine components.
• Perform design and analysis across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
• Build, assess, and improve thermal analysis models and interpret results.
• Prepare design review materials with technical conclusions and recommendations.
• Evaluate design trade-offs, risks, and design-to-cost opportunities.
• Collaborate with mechanical, aerodynamic, performance, and clearance engineering teams.
• Document technical data, assumptions, analysis outputs, and conclusions.

What you'll need

• 7–10 years of relevant experience in heat transfer, secondary flow analysis, or thermal analysis and design for turbomachinery.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related thermal engineering field.
• Experience with thermal design and analysis of turbomachinery components.
• Experience with tools such as ANSYS Thermal, HyperModel, HyperWorks, CFX, or ICEM CFD.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project execution skills.
• Experience with programming or scripting for engineering automation and analysis efficiency.
• Experience applying Lean tools and improving engineering processes.

Nice to have

• Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related thermal engineering field.
• Experience evaluating AI/ML strategies for design system improvement.
