Lead Engineer – Observability Engineering

Overview

Lead Observability Engineering initiatives by building AI-enabled monitoring, alerting, and reliability solutions across hybrid-cloud platforms. The role focuses on New Relic, AIOps, engineering collaboration, and observability strategy.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain observability solutions for metrics, logs, traces, synthetic monitoring, RUM, and business telemetry.
• Implement observability standards for microservices, APIs, front-end, and legacy systems.
• Use AI and AIOps for anomaly detection, predictive alerting, root-cause analysis, noise reduction, and self-healing.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
• Lead collaboration with platform, Developer Velocity, and application teams.
• Evaluate observability tools aligned with architecture, security, and scalability goals.
• Mentor teams and advance observability governance and maturity models.

What you'll need

• 9+ years of total IT industry experience focused on observability and monitoring.
• 5+ years administering, managing, and integrating New Relic across GCP, Azure, and AWS.
• Experience with Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, and Prometheus.
• Knowledge of metrics, events, logs, and traces.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, EKS, Docker, and service mesh architectures.
• Knowledge of automation, CI/CD, DevSecOps, SDLC, Agile, and ITIL.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Master's degree.
• New Relic technical certifications.
