Job description

Overview

Lead the design, engineering and integration of boiler pressure parts and boiler area piping systems for new build, retrofit and upgrade projects, with end-to-end support through customer approval, procurement, erection and commissioning.

What you'll do

  • Independently lead, own and drive complex engineering scopes for boiler pressure parts and boiler area piping systems, ensuring alignment with cost, quality and schedule commitments.
  • Create and oversee pressure parts arrangements, composite and component models using AutoCAD, 3D wireframe models, and 3D piping layouts/models (PDMS/E3D), incorporating equipment, supports, pipe racks, valves, cable trays and maintenance provisions.
  • Design and review systems including boiler start-up systems, critical piping, auxiliary steam, water, air and fire protection, along with P&IDs, line sizing, line lists, valve lists, system descriptions and technical datasheets.
  • Perform and review technical specifications, design calculations, hydraulic and pump head calculations, pipe sizing, wall thickness assessments, material selection, piping stress analysis, and data matrix preparation for CAESAR II.
  • Perform IBR/ASME code calculations, IBR documentation and statutory approvals.
  • Manage material ordering information (tubes, pipes, plates, forgings, fittings, fixtures, shipping frames, temporary closures), SAP MM creation, purchase requisitions and inventory stock linking; prepare preliminary Bills of Materials during tendering and shipping Bills of Materials during execution.
  • Generate and approve component arrangement drawings for critical equipment (drums, separators and spheres), field weld data sheet drawings and sketches, fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, support drawings and vendor submittals.
  • Review vendor documents, 3D models and fabrication drawings for technical compliance and project requirements.
  • Apply advanced analytical thinking to resolve non-routine manufacturing, design and site-execution challenges, establishing precedents where necessary.
  • Coordinate with supply management, project management, quality management, internal engineering disciplines, global teams, customers, vendors, third-party inspectors and statutory authorities for design reviews, terminal point finalization, secondary attachment inputs and interface management.
  • Support project lifecycle phases during manufacturing, procurement, erection, commissioning, performance testing and site issue resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement, productivity enhancement and quality control across engineering tools, processes and deliverables.
  • Act as a primary technical resource and mentor for junior engineers, providing guidance and oversight within the discipline.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with an excellent academic track record.
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in Conceptual, Basic and Detailed Engineering focused on Boiler Pressure Parts and Piping Design.
  • In-depth mastery of the steam-water cycle, boiler pressure parts and auxiliary piping systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, PDMS/E3D, Navisworks and CAESAR II/ROHR.
  • Working knowledge of AutoPIPE, AFT Fathom, or equivalent thermal/hydraulic tools.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of international codes including ASME Section I/VIII/B31.1/B31.3, IBR, API, IS, DIN, EN and NFPA.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal direction on complex technical matters.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence technical consensus across global stakeholders, customers and engineering partners.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, balance competing deliverables and adhere to strict project schedules.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge and working experience in coal-based, gas-based or combined cycle power plants.
  • Experience in thermal power, oil and gas, petrochemical or similar industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering automation or tool development.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.

Details

  • Location: Noida.
  • Relocation assistance provided.
