Lead Engineer, VP

Overview

Lead the design and delivery of cloud-native Java microservices and streaming or batch data pipelines on GCP. Drive architecture, scalability, reliability, testing, and technical leadership for high-throughput data solutions.

What you'll do

• Architect and implement production-grade Java microservices.
• Build, operate, and optimize streaming and batch pipelines using GCP Dataflow and Apache Beam.
• Own services deployed across Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, and VPC.
• Design and optimize relational schemas and database access patterns.
• Design systems for performance, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions across teams.
• Drive testing strategy, static analysis, and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep Java expertise and technical leadership experience with large systems.
• Experience designing and operating microservices architectures at scale.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Compute/GKE.
• Experience building streaming and batch data pipelines for large-volume data.
• Practical PostgreSQL and Oracle experience, including schema design, tuning, replication, and stored procedures.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Beam, Spark, event-driven design, and streaming semantics.
• Experience with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration or integration tooling.
• Experience with Bigtable, Spanner, Redis, or other NoSQL stores.
• Knowledge of cloud security, data governance, GDPR/PII, JVM tuning, and profiling tools.
