Overview
Lead the architecture and evolution of Samsara’s end-to-end machine learning platform for Safety AI, spanning training, experimentation, inference, and edge deployment. Serve as the technical anchor across applied ML, firmware, security, and data platform teams.
What you'll do
- Set technical strategy and own delivery of the ML platform across training, experimentation, inference, and edge systems.
- Drive Safety AI feature design, launch, iteration, and measurable production outcomes.
- Design and operate scalable Ray and Spark inference systems with observability and SLOs.
- Partner with firmware and edge teams to deploy models to devices and build cloud feedback loops.
- Own reliability, security, observability, incident response, and infrastructure hardening.
- Mentor senior engineers and applied scientists while setting cross-functional architecture direction.
- Improve developer experience through documentation, best practices, and open-source contributions.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of machine learning engineering experience.
- Technical lead ownership of at least two major ML platform domains serving multiple product teams at scale.
- Experience shipping ML-powered features end-to-end with measurable product or business impact.
- Hands-on production expertise with Ray and Kubernetes.
- Deep knowledge of ML evaluation, dataset design, ablation, drift, and modeling approaches.
- Experience leading cross-organization platform decisions and communicating throughput, latency, and cost trade-offs.
Nice to have
- Strong experience with Spark.
- Contributions to Ray, Spark, RayDP, or Kubernetes open-source projects.
- Enterprise security or compliance experience in ML environments.
- Experience with edge or on-device ML and firmware or embedded teams.

- Remote position.
- Annual base salary: CAD 196,000–269,500.
- Full-time employee position.
