Lead Shopify Engineer

Overview

Lead Shopify Developer responsible for production-ready Shopify front-end development and key technical decisions, while supporting and mentoring other developers on the account.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain production-ready Shopify front-end code with reusable components and theme areas.
• Lead front-end development workstreams in an Agile environment and contribute to planning, estimation, and stand-ups.
• Collaborate with design and marketing to propose solutions and ensure integration with marketing tools, platform APIs, and Shopify Apps.
• Drive code quality through code reviews, unit testing, accessibility improvements, and performance optimization.
• Own end-to-end development from concept to delivery, including ongoing maintenance, scaling, and support.
• Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to address issues, escalate concerns, and present solutions.

What you'll need

• Deep proficiency in developing and maintaining Shopify themes and custom storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience building reusable UI components and following architectural standards and front-end best practices.
• Solid understanding of Agile development environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), including planning, estimation, and stand-ups.
• Proven ability to lead front-end workstreams and mentor junior developers.
• Experience integrating marketing tools, platform APIs, and Shopify Apps.
• Knowledge of web performance optimization for fast loading and smooth user experiences.
• Understanding and application of web accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Ability to own the full development lifecycle from concept and design to delivery, maintenance, and scalability.
