Senior Shopify Engineer

Overview

Senior Shopify front-end engineer responsible for building high-quality, accessible, responsive Shopify themes and reusable components. You’ll work in an Agile environment to turn complex requirements into seamless user experiences that improve conversions.

What you'll do

• Create high-quality, production-ready front-end code with Shopify.
• Build reusable Shopify components and theme areas.
• Drive code quality including unit testing, accessibility, performance, and code reviews.
• Integrate with Marketing Tools, Platform APIs, and Shopify Apps to optimize shop efficiency and functionality.
• Deliver on Agile front-end workstreams, contributing to stand-ups, sprint planning, and estimates.
• Build modular layouts and reusable code/libraries for future use.
• Own end-to-end delivery from idea to ongoing maintenance, expansion, and scaling.

What you'll need

• Mastery of semantic HTML5, CSS3 (SASS or LESS), and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Extensive experience with Shopify and the Liquid templating engine.
• Experience with unit testing and end-to-end testing/regression testing using Jest and Cypress.
• Commercial experience using Git in a large development team with Continuous Integration.
• Knowledge of front-end architecture best practices including performance optimization, accessibility, SEO, security, and usability.
• Familiarity with modern build pipelines/tools such as Grunt and webpack.
• Experience implementing/debugging third-party Shopify apps and building unique solutions if needed.
