Overview
The Lead Engineer for J&J Learn will shape and advance the enterprise learning platform that enables workforce capability development across Johnson & Johnson. The role combines technical product ownership, platform engineering, and strategic leadership to deliver a secure, scalable, and intuitive learning ecosystem.
What you'll do
- Own and communicate the enterprise LMS vision, strategy, governance model, investment priorities, and multi-year roadmap.
- Provide technical direction for platform architecture, configuration, integrations, APIs, identity and access management, data, analytics, observability, scalability, and reliability.
- Translate stakeholder needs into a transparent backlog and lead prioritization and delivery of enhancements, integrations, releases, and modernization initiatives using Agile product practices.
- Partner with HR, Learning & Development, Quality, Compliance, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Technology leaders to define capabilities, resolve trade-offs, and accelerate adoption.
- Mobilize cross-functional squads, suppliers, and regional stakeholders across cultures and time zones without direct authority.
- Communicate decisions, dependencies, risks, and outcomes to senior leaders.
- Govern relationships with Cornerstone OnDemand and other partners, including service performance, contractual outcomes, release planning, issue escalation, and roadmap alignment.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for availability, performance, adoption, experience, delivery, risk, and value.
- Lead major-incident response, root-cause analysis, problem management, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure technical designs, mappings, architectural decisions, testing and validation evidence, monitoring, runbooks, and support procedures are complete, current, and inspection ready.
- Apply applicable GxP, privacy, cybersecurity, SOX, data-governance, change-management, segregation-of-duties, and least-privilege requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Identify, evaluate, and scale automation and AI-enabled capabilities that improve productivity, data quality, decision support, analytics, and employee experience.
- Apply privacy, security, transparency, testing, appropriate data use, human oversight, and governance requirements to AI recommendations.
- Bring external insights and thought leadership to influence learning technology standards, investment decisions, and the future evolution of the digital learning ecosystem.
- Shape investment priorities, architecture direction, governance standards, service expectations, and vendor roadmaps for the LMS ecosystem.
- Balance innovation, employee experience, operational resilience, cost, and regulatory risk in high-impact product decisions.
- Measure success through platform availability and performance, roadmap delivery, adoption, stakeholder satisfaction, compliance health, risk reduction, operational efficiency, and value realization.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, business, human resources technology, or a related field.
- 4 -7 years of relevant experience in enterprise technology, learning technologies, software engineering, or related discipline.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, and supporting enterprise Learning Management Systems.
- Demonstrated success owning the strategy, roadmap, governance, and lifecycle of an enterprise-scale SaaS platform used by global stakeholder groups.
- Strong experience with enterprise integrations and APIs, identity and access management, data and analytics, cloud technologies, release management, and production support.
- Working knowledge of Agile product management and modern software delivery practices, including backlog prioritization, iterative delivery, testing, and operational readiness.
- Experience operating technology products in a regulated environment and applying relevant quality, privacy, cybersecurity, risk-management, and audit controls.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical and business topics clearly, influence senior stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.

- Deep experience with Cornerstone OnDemand, including governance, configuration, system integration, release management, vendor management, and process optimization.
- Experience leading global learning technology or HR technology products at enterprise scale.
- Experience applying GxP validation, GDPR, SOX, cybersecurity, and audit-readiness requirements to regulated platforms.
- Experience evaluating or deploying AI-enabled capabilities, automation, analytics, or intelligent workflows with responsible-AI controls.
- Experience developing business cases, managing product investments, and demonstrating value through measurable outcomes.
