Maintenance Engineer

Overview

The Maintenance Engineer executes maintenance strategies and objectives at the ETHICON, Aurangabad site to enhance reliability, safety, material flow, product quality and operational cost performance. The role leads maintenance activities and provides technical support for manufacturing operations, automation and improvement projects.

What you'll do

• Execute maintenance strategies and objectives to improve equipment reliability, safety, material flow, operational costs and product quality.
• Provide leadership to executive engineers and maintenance technicians and support automation and improvement projects and day-to-day operations.
• Develop and implement maintenance and reliability processes for manufacturing equipment with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and engineering team.
• Execute engineering maintenance programs to support uninterrupted production and established standards.
• Translate site strategies and expectations into sustainable maintenance solutions as part of a site/platform master plan.
• Plan, execute and report calibration, preventive maintenance and stamping of weights without deviation.
• Lead shift and maintenance-related activities and represent engineering to provide technical support and information to production.
• Develop troubleshooting, setup, adjustment, repair and manufacturing-equipment maintenance skills and guide and train technicians.
• Implement standardized operating processes, procedures and practices for the maintenance team.
• Revise and create documents such as SOPs and forms.
• Make decisions, provide direction and lead resolution of technical and operational issues.
• Ensure equipment functionality and proper maintenance in accordance with GMP to minimize equipment downtime and maintain uninterrupted service.
• Connect with equipment and tooling suppliers to deliver innovative solutions and design, develop and analyze critical tooling used in the plant.
• Prioritize, assign and coordinate work performed by maintenance associates.
• Communicate and review maintenance activity execution plans covering scope, cost, schedule, resource requirements and risks.
• Plan and handle maintenance resources, including manpower, spares and schedules, while monitoring, controlling and improving downtime and technical efficiencies.
• Maintain spares for manufacturing equipment and order them with help from Stores as required.
• Perform erection, commissioning and maintenance of manufacturing and process machinery.
• Use eCMMS to perform, plan, schedule, monitor and analyze maintenance activities.
• Lead technicians in machine troubleshooting and root cause analysis and implement effective countermeasures.
• Understand and apply CFM methods and process mapping.
• Engage in process optimization and improve overall compliance processes.
• Improve operational efficiency using Lean Principles and Process Excellence and execute the Maintenance Excellence program.
• Support continuous improvement methodologies such as JJOS.
• Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
• Follow Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
• Ensure subordinates follow Company Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and that required resources are available and in good condition, if applicable.
• Ensure personal and Company compliance with Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned as needed.
