Overview
The Business Process Improvement Analyst sits within the Enterprise Transformation Office and works under the Director of Process Transformation to diagnose pain points, map current-state processes, define performance metrics, and translate findings into improvement recommendations across the firm.
What you'll do
- Support ETO business analysts and engage with business unit stakeholders to identify pain points, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities through interviews, workshops, and process observation.
- Map and analyze current-state ("as-is") processes using ETO standard notation (swim lanes, SIPOC, value stream) and validate with process owners.
- Document data flows and system touchpoints as part of process mapping, particularly where they inform automation, integration, or AI-enabled recommendations.
- Design and support the implementation of process performance metrics and KPIs (leading and lagging indicators) to baseline performance and track the impact of improvements.
- Develop future-state ("to-be") process recommendations, including process redesign, automation, and AI/technology-enabled solutions.
- Translate discovery sessions and stakeholder input into structured requirements, process documentation, and decision-ready materials for the Director and business sponsors.
- Understand what is needed to develop credible business cases for recommended changes, including effort, cost, and expected benefits, and gather relevant data for initiative documentation.
- Contribute reusable process artifacts (templates, capability maps, documentation standards) to the Process Center of Excellence.
- Act as a bridge between business and technology teams by articulating business requirements and validating that proposed solutions address the root problem.
- Track and report on the status of improvement initiatives, flagging risks and dependencies to the Director.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset within partner business units.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in business process analysis, operations, consulting, or transformation roles, with demonstrated ownership of process work (not just support/documentation).
- Proven ability in writing business, data, and technical requirements and developing wireframes to clearly articulate solutions.
- Proven proficiency in process mapping (current- and future-state), able to independently run mapping sessions and produce validated, accurate artifacts with minimal oversight.
- Confident engaging business unit stakeholders directly, able to ask the right questions, surface real pain points, and read between the lines of what's said versus what's actually broken.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and shape improvement opportunities, connecting root causes to practical process, technology, automation, or AI recommendations.
- Experience defining and standing up KPIs/metrics.
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with process and operational data to identify root causes and quantify impact.
- Ability to manage time across multiple projects and escalate when help is required.
- Working knowledge of process/workflow tools (e.g., Visio, Miro) and data/reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma, BPMN, or similar frameworks.
- Exposure to automation or AI-enabled process solutions (RPA, GenAI use cases, workflow tools).
- Process improvement certification (Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, PMP, or equivalent).
- Experience in a shared services or enterprise transformation function.
