Overview
Manage a global team of technical professionals responsible for the stability, security, performance, compliance, continuous improvement and modernization of Caterpillar's SAP and QAD ecosystem and related enterprise platforms.
What you'll do
- Own and drive incidents, service tasks, problem tickets and system optimization for the operations portfolio, ensuring delivery against commitments, SLAs and outcomes.
- Establish, monitor and continuously improve standard work, communicating progress, risks and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage and develop a multi-disciplinary organization delivering business and technical solutions, including process functionality, technical capability and automation.
- Partner with business units and decision makers on day-to-day operations, incident and problem resolution, and continuous service improvement.
- Implement and govern common operating procedures, controls and metrics to strengthen quality, compliance and operational resilience.
- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing IT teams and foster a collaborative, results-oriented work environment.
- Execute multiple priorities and business requirements and develop solutions that meet enterprise needs, including differentiated business capabilities as needed.
- Develop and manage the IT budget for the area of accountability.
- Deliver highly available IT services through service-level management practices that flex with changing business demands.
- Lead SAP ecosystem risk assessments, technical governance, platform modernization, upgrade and patching strategies, and SAP upgrades, enhancement packs and technology refresh initiatives.
- Provide SAP Basis administration, infrastructure support, incident and major issue management, technical escalations, vulnerability management, SAP Security Notes and Support Packages, backup and disaster recovery, system monitoring, automation and operational excellence.
- Build organizational capabilities, establish priorities, manage strategic vendor relationships and serve as the primary technical leader for enterprise ERP infrastructure.
- Execute business objectives through collaboration and decisive action, provide guidance on timely issue resolution, and lead technical teams focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead and/or direct teams within or outside the discipline addressing complex problems.
- Drive performance management, coaching, succession planning and a culture of collaboration and accountability for Technology Specialists, Information Systems Specialists, and application, technical and operations teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
What you'll need
- Relevant computer science master's or graduate degree.
- 10 plus years of progressively complex Information Service experience, including staff and supervisory assignments in Information Services and related areas.
- Knowledge of leadership concepts and the ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
- Experience leading global teams in enterprise application, infrastructure or ERP support environments.
- Deep expertise across the SAP ecosystem, including SAP Basis, HANA, Security (GRC/IAM), Integration, Cloud technologies and related infrastructure platforms.
- Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or automated agent workflows, to accelerate application development or support, reduce cost or effort, or optimize support.
- Demonstrated experience with AI tools.
- Experience managing contracts and vendor relationships.
- A Lean or Continuous Improvement background.
- Ability to translate between technical and business language, creating a bridge between the support organization and the Caterpillar business they serve.
- Experience as a leader in the IT space.
- General understanding of basic business operations, including one or more of the following: general business processes, technical infrastructure, application development and support of major projects, and engineering functional applications.
- Ability to provide strategic direction for managing staff, budgets, business plans, project plans and developing 2-5-year plans on Information Services.
- Ability to work with diversified departments, along with effective oral and written communications skills.
- Strong customer focus and business knowledge.
- Ability to work efficiently with integration partners, technology vendors and managed service partners.
- Knowledge of business concepts, tools and processes needed for sound decisions in the context of the company's business.
- Knowledge of marketplace experience, developments and trends related to the organization's use of Information Technology.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques and tools for determining root causes and creating alternative solutions.
- Knowledge of talent management competencies, approaches and systems.
- Knowledge of leadership practices and processes.
- Knowledge of external provider management processes and business relationship management.
- Knowledge of IT service management and the ability to manage IT services and oversee service operations.
Nice to have
- Proven track record of leading SAP upgrades, support pack implementations, vulnerability remediation programs, disaster recovery planning and platform modernization initiatives.
- Ability to establish and mature operating models, governance frameworks, service-level metrics, automation strategies and continuous improvement programs that enhance customer experience while optimizing operational costs.
- Extensive experience working with cross-functional teams, along with a proven history of strong job-related results.
- Experience managing teams working across multiple locations from satellite office locations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.

- Location: Bangalore, Karnataka.
- Requires working 5 days onsite each week.
- Work schedule: 5-day-a-week schedule.
- Shift timing: 01:00-10:00 PM IST.
- May require travel of up to 25%.
- Relocation is unavailable.
