Manager – Java + Scala Data Engineer, Advisory

Overview

A Manager-level Java and Scala Data Engineer role in PwC's Advisory line of service, focused on designing and implementing scalable, robust technical solutions across all layers of application development.

What you'll do

• Design and implement high-quality, scalable and robust technical solutions across all layers of application development, including APIs, application logic, performance, reliability, persistence, tests, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Mentor less experienced team members, lead by example, and produce high-quality code while adhering to development best practices.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and actively drive towards the team's goals.
• Analyze user requirements and envision system features and functionality.
• Work collaboratively with a global team of technologists and business users.
• Participate in all aspects of the SDLC (analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and deployment).
• Lead with ideas and innovation.
• Manage communication and partner with end users to design solutions.

What you'll need

• At least 4 years' relevant experience (4-8 years of total experience) with skills in Core Java, Java RESTful APIs, Gradle/Maven, Spring, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
• Solid understanding and experience with Object-Oriented design and development.
• Solid understanding and experience with Microservices architecture and design.
• Experience in building server-side applications using J2EE technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Experience in building Cloud or Cloud-ready applications.
• Experience with building highly scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant microservices.
• Proficient with database technologies and complex SQL queries (preferably PostgreSQL / MS SQL Server / DB2), including modelling and performance tuning.
• Highly proficient working in Linux environments.
• Experience building solutions in Python / Perl and Unix shell such as Bash.
• Experience with DevOps.
• Competency with source control (preferably Git) and Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins.
• Practiced understanding of Agile development methodologies and of DevOps integration.
• Strong familiarity with Agile software/tools (e.g., JIRA).
• Education: B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA / MBA (Degrees/Field of Study required: Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Engineering).
• Mandatory skill sets: Core Java, Spring Boot, REST API, MVC, Microservices, SQL, Python/shell scripting, CI/CD.
