Manager, Software Engineering

Overview

Manage software engineering teams delivering tokenized mobile transactions through iterative development with globally located teams. The role splits time between Technical (70%), Managerial (20%) and Recruiting (10%) activities.

What you'll do

• Lead team functions including PI Planning, production support, enhancements and fresh development.
• Assist teams with day-to-day work by highlighting issues, defining infrastructure and other asks for upcoming features, coordinating with TPM to raise exchanges, and working with PMT to identify upcoming work.
• Review code and groom the team technically.
• Identify and maintain technical debt and plan for its completion.
• Own technical backlogs.
• Create and sustain an atmosphere where teams are having fun at work.
• Remain approachable and open to feedback from peers and juniors.
• Coordinate with the operations team to ensure applications developed are good from an operability perspective.
• Work with technical and solution architects and challenge their designs.
• Own continuous code refactoring and its plan.
• Arrange and provide 24X7 support for products and solutions developed by the team.
• Navigate uncertainty and changes in requirements while keeping team morale high.
• Facilitate AI coding tools to expedite development tasks.
• Engage and manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews.
• Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
• Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of accessed information.
• Report suspected information security violations or breaches.
• Complete periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.

What you'll need

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand and explain complex ideas clearly, orally or in writing.
• Ability to identify problems or areas of opportunity and implement solutions.
• Ability to motivate a team and inspire people to do their best work.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience in Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful web services, Event Driven Architecture and Angular.
• Experience working with and/or implementing an AI-driven development lifecycle.
• Solid understanding and experience integrating and building scalable and performing web services.
• Experience identifying and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
