Overview
Engineer role in Xylem's Global Capability Center in Chennai, focused on process and CAD work for packaged and skid-mounted water treatment systems.
What you'll do
- Develop, revise, and maintain P&IDs using AutoCAD at an expert level for packaged and skid-mounted water treatment systems, supporting proposal and project execution phases.
- Prepare P&IDs for pre-treatment (MMF, softeners, UF, clarifiers), membrane processes (RO/NF), polishing units (DI, UV), and CIP systems, ensuring accurate reflection of process and piping requirements.
- Apply solid knowledge of process engineering fundamentals and basic hydraulics to correctly illustrate flow paths, isolation, drain/vent provisions, and operational functionality.
- Integrate equipment, valve, and instrumentation selections provided during initial project stages into P&IDs, ensuring accurate tagging, representation, and application.
- Develop and maintain instrumentation and control-related details on P&IDs in accordance with ISA 5.1 standards, including control loops, interlocks, and safety functions.
- Collaborate closely with Applications Engineering, mechanical/piping, electrical, and controls teams to ensure alignment and consistency across multidisciplinary project deliverables.
- Create and manage metadata for design documents and CAD files in the PDM/PLM system (Vault Pro) for proper documentation, control, and retrieval.
- Uphold high standards of drawing quality, organization, and revision control, ensuring all updates are accurately captured and aligned with project scope and phase.
- Take ownership of assigned P&IDs by proactively identifying errors, missing information, or constructability concerns and communicating them to the project team.
