Mechanical Engineer design - Hydropower

Overview

Mechanical Engineer (Hydropower) responsible for designing, analyzing, and coordinating mechanical systems for hydropower plants, including turbine-generator units and balance-of-plant systems.

What you'll do

• Independently perform design, analysis, and coordination for hydropower mechanical systems.
• Conduct design analysis and calculations for selection and sizing of turbines and balance-of-plant equipment.
• Prepare technical/performance specifications and coordinate vendor equipment supply contracts.
• Create design basis/technical memoranda, reports, and coordinate report preparation within a multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare and review drawings, Bills of Materials, cost estimation, and as-built/record/closeout documents.
• Develop testing and commissioning procedures and prepare/review quality assurance procedures with vendor workshop inspections.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution.
• 7 to 12 years of experience in the hydroelectric industry with relevant experience in turbine-generator units and balance of plant/heavy mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of ASME, ASTM, IEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, USBR and other relevant codes/standards/regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Office software products.
• AutoCAD software experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
