MTS-1 Machine Learning Engineer

Overview

Machine Learning Engineer (MTS-1) for eBay Ads teams, building production ML platforms and services that power sponsored search, recommendations, ranking, retrieval, personalization, and GenAI capabilities.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and run scalable backend and ML systems for sponsored experiences, ranking, retrieval, and personalization.
• Own MLOps pipelines for CI/CD, training, validation, and monitoring of production-grade models.
• Engineer data pipelines using big data technologies for model training and feature engineering.
• Implement and optimize traditional ML and Generative AI models for low-latency, high-throughput serving.
• Collaborate with Applied Researchers to convert research prototypes into production-ready code.
• Monitor performance, resolve production issues, and improve reliability and efficiency of ML services.

What you'll need

• MS in Computer Science (or related) with 5+ years relevant work experience, or BS/BA with 6+ years.
• Expertise in production engineering practices and software development in an OO language (Scala, Java, Python, etc.).
• Experience with distributed big data processing frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Flink.
• Production experience with ML frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Experience with serving frameworks (TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe, NVIDIA Triton).
• Ability to build CI/CD pipelines for ML models and proficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
