MTS-2 Machine Learning Engineer

Overview

Machine Learning Engineer for eBay Ads systems, building ML and backend platforms that take AI models to production at scale.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend and ML systems for sponsored experiences, ranking, retrieval, and personalization.
• Develop and own MLOps pipelines for CI/CD, training, validation, and monitoring of production models.
• Engineer big data data pipelines for model training and feature engineering.
• Implement and optimize traditional ML and GenAI/LLM models for low-latency, high-throughput serving.
• Translate research prototypes into production-ready code with Applied Researchers.
• Monitor performance, resolve production issues, and improve reliability and efficiency of ML services.
• Mentor team members via code reviews, technical guidance, architecture design, and pair programming.

What you'll need

• MS in Computer Science (or related) with 7+ years relevant work experience, or BS/BA with 9+ years.
• Expertise in production engineering practices and software development in an OO language (Scala, Java, Python, etc.).
• Experience with distributed big data processing frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Flink.
• Production experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Experience with serving frameworks (TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe, NVIDIA Triton) and LLM ops libraries (LangChain, Hugging Face Transformers) is preferred.
• Ability to build and manage CI/CD pipelines for ML models with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Cloud services and data pipeline/database experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
