Paralegal

Overview

Paralegal role responsible for ensuring accounts impacted by bankruptcy are handled in strict compliance with applicable laws and regulations, covering consumer and small business products including credit cards, lines of credit, and installment loans.

What you'll do

• Review and process bankruptcy notifications and updates received from approved vendors or mail.
• Code accounts as bankrupt in the appropriate system of record and exclude them from collection activities to prevent automatic stay violations.
• Research and resolve match criteria exclusions and manage manual coding for exceptions.
• Monitor joint filings and community property cases.
• Perform quality assurance reviews and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with attorneys and account holders.
• Prepare Proofs of Claim for bankruptcy courts, meeting strict court deadlines (Bar Dates), and file electronically (ECF/PACER) or manually depending on court requirements.
• Amend or withdraw claims for valid reasons, subject to management or designee approval.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents, and manage files.

What you'll need

• Paralegal certification from an accredited program, or equivalent degree or experience.
• Three to five years of relevant experience (3+ relevant years).
• Strong attention to detail and excellent Microsoft suite skills.
• Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal oversight and critical thinking skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to organize and manage a large volume of detailed tasks.

• Shift timings: 6:30pm-3:30am IST.
