Payments Dispute & Chargeback Specialist - Remote

Overview

Manage and investigate payment disputes/chargebacks across the platform, including the full dispute lifecycle and evidence submissions. Work to help reduce chargeback rates and fraud risk while collaborating with payments, support, and fraud prevention teams.

What you'll do

• Handle end-to-end chargeback/dispute processing from notification to resolution.
• Review incoming disputes from Stripe and other payment processors and categorize them by reason codes.
• Investigate disputed transactions and customer activity to assess dispute validity.
• Compile and submit structured evidence packages for chargeback representment.
• Monitor dispute trends and identify fraud patterns or policy abuse signals.
• Coordinate with customer support and internal payments/finance teams on dispute resolution and reporting.
• Track and report dispute metrics (chargeback ratio, win rate, resolution time, fraud trends).

What you'll need

• 4+ years experience handling chargebacks, payment disputes, or fraud investigations.
• Experience working with Stripe, NMI, or other payment gateways.
• Understanding of Visa, Mastercard, and card network dispute processes.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Experience compiling dispute evidence and documentation.
• Strong written communication for bank dispute responses.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.
