Overview
Platform Architect II within Infrastructure Design Services, responsible for designing and delivering internet infrastructure solutions and ensuring infrastructure and application architectures align with security, design and availability standards. The role produces Technical Architecture Documents and related architecture products for applications, platforms and systems.
What you'll do
- Generate requirements with architects, engineers, development teams and users to determine that high-level requirements have been met.
- Resolve internet architectural and operational problems impacting infrastructure and product availability and performance globally.
- Generate technical architecture documents, logical flows and models to keep users, architects and engineers aligned on the evolving application, system or platform.
- Maintain all architectural products in their most current state and prevent them from becoming obsolete.
- Research and evaluate new technology for possible deployment in Mastercard’s infrastructure.
- Assume lead and total accountability for ongoing regional projects as assigned, including planning, time and cost control, resource utilization and implementation.
- Implement, manage and support internet infrastructure components while leveraging current standards and best practices.
- Perform problem diagnosis, performance tuning, capacity planning and configuration management for Mastercard internet components.
- Monitor production execution of relevant systems to assure system stability and future compatibility.
- Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of accessed information.
- Report suspected information security violations or breaches.
- Complete periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
What you'll need
- 3-5 years of overall career experience in a similar role or technology.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of network, operating system principles and web architecture.
- Thorough knowledge of core functions related to internet infrastructure design and web administration.
- Deep understanding of load balancers, firewall policies and configurations.
- Well versed in failover strategy and current design and security best practices.
- Deep understanding of disaster failover techniques and routing strategy.
- Awareness of cloud design and architecture.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship, collaborative and organizational skills, with the ability to work as a member of a matrix-based, diverse and geographically distributed project team.
- Be high-energy, proactive, detail-oriented and able to function under pressure in an independent environment.
- Have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation and demonstrate the ability to drive results.
- Willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities.
- Experience in internet fundamentals related to web servers, application servers, internet security and other internet technologies.
- Ability to use Microsoft Visio to design middleware infrastructure from the ground up.
- Ability to interface with users, application teams and other stakeholders to determine their evolving needs and requirements.
- Ability to generate the highest level of system requirements based on given requirements and other constraints.
- Ability to ensure high-level requirements are consistent, complete, correct and operationally defined.
