Overview
Principal AI Engineer for Smartsheet’s AI platform in Bangalore, owning target-state system architecture for agentic workflows and partner-driven capabilities.
What you'll do
- Own target-state architecture for Smartsheet’s AI platform, including standards across Data, Agents, Knowledge Graph, and Context Graph.
- Set architecture for the agent harness and sub-agent framework (orchestration, lifecycle, hand-off contracts, Evals, and capability-tier classification).
- Design and own schema/ontology, ingestion and freshness pipelines, plus retrieval and grounding patterns.
- Build and maintain a reference agent framework reusable by other teams.
- Author a shared skills and tools library with interface contracts and a versioning model.
- Define deployment, security, and governance patterns from prototype to production and AI governance plane.
- Serve as primary technical lead for strategic technology partners and route early-access programs via evaluated prototypes.
What you'll need
- Deep, hands-on experience architecting production agentic systems on Databricks Platform and AWS Bedrock/AgentCore, plus MCPs.
- Experience with agent harness/orchestration design, sub-agent boundaries, tracing/observability (e.g., MLflow), and Evals.
- Experience with governance, Responsible AI, and cost/latency instrumentation at platform scale.
- Strong background in knowledge and context-graph systems, including ontology design, ingestion pipelines, and retrieval/grounding evaluation.
- Track record prototyping rapidly, shipping working software, and enabling adoption through demonstrated patterns.
- Experience designing reusable, versioned software interfaces (skills/tools/libraries) with clear contracts and promotion criteria.
- Legally eligible to work in India on an ongoing basis.
