Principal Analyst (Equity or Investment research, Technology research)

Overview

Gartner is seeking an India-based Principal Analyst to join its global Invest Practice within the Emerging Technology research group. The role serves Venture Capital, Private Equity, Public Equity and Investment Banking clients by tracking investment activity, analyzing emerging technology and producing tailored research deliverables.

What you'll do

• Monitor global financial and market developments daily across Venture Capital, Private Equity, Public Equity and Investment Banking.
• Support Gartner's 24/7 global follow-the-sun delivery model across NY, London and India.
• Translate and tailor Gartner's technology research, market data and insights into high-impact, actionable deliverables for Invest Analysts and clients.
• Lead author publications tailored specifically for Invest Analysts and clients.
• Rapidly identify relevant and timely published research for Invest clients to support sales initiatives.
• Collaborate with the core Invest analyst team and leadership to ensure timely delivery.

What you'll need

• Strong business and technology acumen, including an appetite to track investment activities daily and explore early-stage technology trends.
• Ability to gather, analyze and restructure complex qualitative and quantitative data to tailor Gartner content for Invest Analysts and sales-led initiatives.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex market and technology concepts clearly, logically and persuasively.
• Proven competence in meeting tight daily deadlines, multitasking across dynamic market trends and delivering high-quality work in a follow-the-sun global workflow.
• Drive to constantly learn, adapt to shifting market signals and take self-motivated ownership of research deliverables.
• Strong passion for technology innovation, early-stage startups and financial markets.
• Keen interest in how emerging trends impact Venture Capital, Private Equity, Public Equity and Investment Banking.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, MBA or a Technology-related field, or a PhD.
• 5-8 years of experience in market research, equity/investment research, corporate strategy or management consulting within the technology or financial services sectors.
• Proven expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, data synthesis and insight generation.
• General understanding of financial markets, investment lifecycles and emerging technology ecosystems.
