Principal Architect

Overview

Principal Architect responsible for technical direction and end-to-end architecture of shared Java platform and distributed-systems capabilities used across multiple product modules.

What you'll do

• Own architecture for shared Java platform, workflow, reporting, analytics, and supporting frameworks.
• Design multi-tenant, configuration-driven platforms with safe rollout and data migration.
• Define API, event, and plugin extension patterns for shared platform components.
• Drive Kafka-based event-driven designs alongside batch and background processing.
• Set GraphQL, gRPC, and REST standards for versioning, compatibility, and operability.
• Lead modernization, performance, reliability, capacity, observability, and incident follow-through.
• Mentor architects and tech leads, run design reviews, and partner with product, SRE, and security teams.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years in a senior technical leadership role on backend or platform systems.
• BTech/MTech in Computer Science or equivalent with an excellent academic record.
• Expert-level Java experience with enterprise-scale distributed, multi-tenant systems.
• Production experience with Kafka, MongoDB or equivalent, Redis or equivalent, Elasticsearch or equivalent, GraphQL, Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform.
• Production experience with gRPC and/or REST microservices, observability, and incident response.
• Experience leading architecture and delivering shared platform frameworks adopted by multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Hands-on daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
• Experience guiding teams on responsible AI-assisted coding and review.
