Overview
Principal Engineer on Twilio’s Compliance Experiences team, owning technical strategy for a platform that processes millions of requests across Phone Numbers and Compliance (KYC).
What you'll do
- Lead architecture and the long-term technical roadmap, transitioning legacy systems to modern distributed microservices.
- Use AI coding assistants to automate boilerplate, generate test suites, and prototype rapidly.
- Drive technical excellence across multiple teams by making architectural decisions balancing innovation, reliability, and security.
- Partner with Product Managers to translate global telecom regulations and customer needs into developer-first APIs and workflows.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and foster technical curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks early and lead teams through complex production incidents for long-term remediation.
- Communicate technical strategies via design documents, RFCs, and presentations to executives and engineering teams.
What you'll need
- 16+ years of experience designing and developing highly available, high-scale, secure, mission-critical cloud native enterprise distributed systems.
- Expert proficiency in Java or Go.
- Deep knowledge of AWS ecosystems (Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Kafka).
- Deep experience with cloud-native infrastructure and microservices patterns, including designing 99.999% resilient systems.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools to significantly accelerate software delivery using LLMs for architecture brainstorming, debugging, and code synthesis.
- A track record building and maintaining high-volume public-facing APIs with exceptional developer experience.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD paradigms.
