Principal Platform Engineer (High Availability & Disaster Recovery)

Overview

Principal HA & DR Engineer responsible for the platform’s resilience, high availability, and disaster recovery lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Own architectural strategy and technical execution for platform resilience, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Drive end-to-end design and execution of the global High Availability roadmap to ensure platform uptime across cloud and on-prem.
• Design and implement HA architectures including active-active clustering, global load balancing, and real-time database replication.
• Define and lead business continuity guardrails for system fault-tolerance and coordinate multi-region disaster preparedness between cloud and on-prem.
• Design automated failover mechanisms and develop mitigation strategies to eliminate single points of failure.
• Monitor infrastructure performance KPIs to mitigate bottlenecks/overload risks and support strict Customer SLA requirements.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of HA engineering experience across cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and on-premises environments.
• Proven ability to evangelize resiliency standards and influence cross-functional engineering teams.
• Hands-on expertise with real-time data replication, database clustering, and automated zero-downtime traffic failover.
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform or Ansible for infrastructure as code.
• Deep technical knowledge of Linux internals and container orchestration using Kubernetes (K8s).
• Hands-on experience with hybrid networking topologies including BGP routing, DNS management, Anycast, and CDNs.
