Principal Software Engineer

Overview

Lead the hands-on design and implementation of foundational APIs that securely expose SimCorp business capabilities through reusable, reliable contracts. Shape technical direction while delivering production software with engineering and domain teams.

What you'll do

• Lead technical design and implementation using C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.
• Design reusable API contracts for business capabilities and consumer needs.
• Evaluate REST, GraphQL, messaging, and integration approaches.
• Build resilience for latency, failures, retries, concurrency, and source-system availability.
• Contribute to implementation, automated tests, deployment pipelines, and problem resolution.
• Establish practices for testing, security, observability, CI/CD, and production readiness.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across product, architecture, platform, security, data, and domain teams.

What you'll need

• Extensive experience designing production software with C# and .NET.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud-native architecture, and Azure DevOps.
• Experience designing REST APIs and distributed services.
• Strong API design knowledge, including contracts, versioning, compatibility, pagination, filtering, and errors.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, relational databases, and SQL.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems and applying Domain-Driven Design or similar techniques.
• Strong architectural judgment, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL, messaging, or event-driven architecture.
• An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in a multinational product-development organization.
• Interest in investment-management and SimCorp technologies.
