Principal Software Engineer, Developer Acceleration (Release Engineering)

Overview

Principal Software Engineer for Developer Acceleration, focused on release engineering and defining the technical future of large-scale delivery systems enhanced with agentic AI.

What you'll do

• Own the future of HubSpot’s release engineering platform.
• Shape technical direction for build, test, and deploy systems supporting software shipping.
• Drive architectural decisions across pipeline design, test infrastructure, deployment orchestration, and developer ergonomics.
• Design and implement AI-powered QA agents that run on every deploy.
• Turn ambiguous infrastructure problems into scalable systems and clear technical direction.
• Lead roadmap work targeting 500+ deploys per minute by eliminating pipeline bottlenecks.
• Partner across teams to guide technical tradeoffs and raise the architectural bar.

What you'll need

• Deep experience building and evolving large-scale distributed systems, especially in CI/CD, build infrastructure, release engineering, or foundational backend platforms.
• Strong architectural instincts with a bias toward simplicity, clarity, and long-term platform leverage.
• Experience operating at hyperscaler or platform-provider scale.
• A track record of owning and delivering complex, cross-team technical initiatives with org-wide or company-level impact.
• A hands-on mindset, leading by building, debugging, reviewing, and shipping.
• Ability to move quickly into unfamiliar technical territory and form first-principles opinions.
