Overview
Principal Software Engineer for Smartsheet’s Hybrid role in Bangalore, focused on next-generation system architecture with deep expertise in Identity and Access Management and agentic identity.
What you'll do
- Lead design and implementation of Smartsheet’s next-generation architecture for scalability, security, and performance.
- Define and drive architecture strategy and make key technical decisions.
- Architect and evolve the identity and access foundation, including authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle.
- Craft strategy for agentic identity, including authentication, authorization, and auditing for AI agents.
- Review and guide technical project designs to ensure resilience, scalability, and security.
- Own cross-functional technical initiatives and drive large-scale projects to completion.
- Lead deployment reviews and advocate for monitoring, testing, and operational excellence.
What you'll need
- Proven experience in system architecture and scalable, high-availability system design.
- Hands-on expertise in Identity and Access Management, including SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.x, SCIM provisioning, session management, and MFA enforcement.
- Experience designing identity strategy for agentic/AI-driven systems, including machine identities and delegated authorization.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and microservices.
- Strong experience leading large-scale architectural transformations across multiple teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Legally eligible to work in India on an ongoing basis; fluency in English required.
