Principal Software Engineer - Identity & Access Management

Overview

Principal Software Engineer (Identity & Access Management) to own and lead the evolution of authentication and authorization, including an API auth gateway and identity services.

What you'll do

• Own the technical vision and roadmap for the authentication and authorization platform, including the API auth gateway and supporting identity services.
• Architect, design, and build scalable, highly-available auth services and gateway components, primarily in Golang.
• Lead phased, zero-downtime migrations with rollback and safety mechanisms.
• Establish authentication/authorization standards across the platform (OAuth2/OIDC, token strategies, service-to-service auth, RBAC/ABAC/policy engines).
• Drive consistency, scalability, and edge gateway performance, reliability, and latency targets.
• Partner with Security and Compliance to meet security and regulatory requirements and enforce secure-by-default patterns.
• Participate in on-call rotation and lead incident response and postmortems for owned services.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend experience.
• Deployed significant changes to a production application in the past 30 days.
• Hands-on expertise in authentication/authorization systems including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, and authorization patterns (RBAC/ABAC/policy-as-code).
• Experience designing/building/operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale (commercial or open-source or in-house).
• Proven track record leading large-scale service extraction or migration with zero/minimal customer impact.
• Strong proficiency in Golang and experience building/maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field (required).
