Production Data Support Engineer I

Overview

Provide first-line production support for enterprise application teams by monitoring systems, triaging incidents, and escalating issues with clear evidence.

What you'll do

• Monitor Splunk and New Relic dashboards for system issues, performance degradation, and failures.
• Execute runbook actions to assess issues and determine escalation paths.
• Triage incidents and create and manage tickets.
• Communicate incident status updates with error details, identifiers, timelines, and screenshots.
• Escalate incidents to L2, L3, or subject-matter experts when required.
• Support planned maintenance activities and deployment windows.
• Provide operational coverage during peak production and critical business hours.

What you'll need

• Engineering or Science degree.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Support Engineer.
• Knowledge of basic systems and application monitoring concepts.
• Ability to interpret dashboards, alerts, metrics, thresholds, and baseline behaviour.
• Experience using filters, time windows, and monitoring views to detect anomalies.
• Familiarity with Splunk and New Relic dashboards.
• Experience with incident and ticket management workflows such as JIRA.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of AWS-based data platforms such as MWAA/Airflow, EMR, S3, Redshift, or Athena.
• Ability to read or troubleshoot Python, SQL, Scala, or Shell code used in data pipelines.
• Knowledge of on-call escalation models and alerting tools such as PagerDuty.
