Project Engineer

Overview

Project Engineer in the Hardware Design and Integration team of ABB's Energy Industries business in the India Operations Center (INOPC), Bangalore, supporting ABB units globally on Process Automation projects for Operation Centers and Quality division.

What you'll do

• Review technical specifications of DCS cabinets and design the cabinets to meet customer specifications.
• Design best-fit technical solutions against customer specifications.
• Determine the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions.
• Review RFQs, understand scope, and prepare cabinet drawings (GA/IGA/Schematic/BOM).
• Attend kick-off meetings with stakeholders and clarify scope.
• Prepare deliverables including system architecture, bill of materials, general arrangement drawings and schematics.
• Work with internal and external panel shops on cabinet fabrication and testing.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering discipline.
• 6+ years of professional work experience in Automation Proposals (DCS/ESD/FGS) for process industries in Oil & Gas, Refineries or Petrochemicals.
• Experience with the ABB 800xA System, including power and grounding requirements, field cabling requirements and field wiring typical for IO signals, equipment, installation, connection, power-up and site acceptance testing.
• Experience in Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design, implementation, test, installation, commissioning and start-up of an Integrated Control & Safety System and Process Power Management (PPM) system in the Oil & Gas, Chemicals & Refining or Power & Water industry with focus on efficiency improvements.
• Good understanding of how to design and fabricate a cabinet.
• Knowledge of applicable industry and electrical standards such as UL, ATEX, CSA.
• Knowledge of engineering tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Eplan, E3 & EBase).
