Purchase Engineer

Overview

Support daily operational procurement of high-voltage switchgear and related components, ensuring material availability before production schedules and meeting production plans and customer requirements.

What you'll do

• Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure material availability meeting production plan and customer requirement.
• Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Handle import and local procurement and shipment tracking.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business needs.
• Coordinate with the quality team, evaluate the quality of purchased items, and resolve shortcomings.
• Manage vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
• Contribute to inventory management initiatives in highly fluctuating demand and supply challenges.
• Drive operational efficiency and enhance productivity across the procurement process.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
• Take responsibility for your own actions while caring for colleagues and the business.

What you'll need

• 2-5 years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• Mechanical/Electrical Diploma or B.E. Mechanical Engineering with experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry of switchgear.
• Strong understanding of operational procurement processes.
• Knowledge of GST, VAT, customs clearance, and other taxation is required.
• Working knowledge of SAP MM / PP Module.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Both spoken and written English language proficiency is required.
• Self-motivated and self-organized.
• Open-mindedness and strong interpersonal skills.
• Analytical aptitude and thinking, with strong data collection and analytical skills for a complex project.
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various functions across the organization.
• Excellent leadership and management skills.

Nice to have

• Good analytical skills with proven experience in cost-saving activities are desirable.
