Overview
QA Engineer responsible for validating Cisco IOS XR routing and Broadband Network Gateway capabilities. The role focuses on networking test strategy, automation, complex scenario validation, troubleshooting, and release-quality recommendations.
What you'll do
- Design functional, system, regression, scale, performance, interoperability, resiliency, and high-availability tests.
- Validate BNG subscriber technologies and Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols.
- Develop reusable test automation with Python and pyATS, Genie, or equivalent tools.
- Build and maintain physical, virtual, containerized, and cloud-based test environments.
- Troubleshoot failures using logs, protocol traces, packet captures, telemetry, and system data.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and regression processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and communicate product-quality risks and release readiness.
What you'll need
- 4–8 years of experience in software engineering, network product testing, test automation, or quality engineering.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related technical field.
- Strong BNG, subscriber-management, Layer 2, and Layer 3 networking knowledge.
- Advanced Python skills for test automation, scripting, APIs, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with IOS XR or another carrier-grade network operating system.
- Strong Linux or Unix skills, Git, code reviews, debugging, and CI/CD.
- Experience with cloud, containerization, virtualization, and clustering technologies.
Nice to have
- Experience testing BNG and routing on Cisco IOS XR platforms.
- Experience with IXIA, Spirent, or subscriber-simulation tools.
- Knowledge of advanced BNG features, L2VPN, EVPN, telemetry, and network programmability.
- CCNP Service Provider, CCIE Service Provider, DevNet Professional, or equivalent knowledge.
