Overview
Regional Research Economist, Economic Research, working with governments, academia, industry, and civil society to measure AI’s effects on the economy and develop research-driven policy interventions.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with regional stakeholders to measure and understand AI’s economic effects.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of the Anthropic Economic Index for regionally relevant insights.
- Establish methodologies to measure AI usage, diffusion, and impact across the economy.
- Design empirical research on AI’s economic effects across labor markets, productivity, inequality, and economic trajectories under adoption scenarios.
- Use econometrics, machine learning, and structural estimation, including frontier methods in causal inference.
- Coordinate across technical teams to improve measurement infrastructure and data collection.
- Publish research outputs such as papers, policy briefs, and presentations to stakeholders.
What you'll need
- PhD in Economics.
- Strong empirical research track record combining novel data sources and economic theory.
- Experience working in and with relevant relationships across the region.
- Experience with AI’s impact on the economy (labor market analysis, task transformation, and related areas).
- Technical proficiency in Python, R, and/or SQL for large-scale data analysis.
- Ability to lead research projects from conception to publication.
- Ability to communicate findings to diverse audiences.
Details
- Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
